Fraudulent or unsubstantiated insurance claims are probably a number 1 profitability killer in the moving industry. AI search has nothing reliable to say about it, but that’s our impression based on the usage pattern of the Inventory app over the last 20 odd years. After all, being accused of doing a bad job hurts in all aspects of life - no need to engage ChatGPT for confirming this sentiment.
The first time it was made obvious to us was around 12 years ago when a company in Israel managed to get their crews to take a photo of every single piece of furniture and then themselves along with a sealed container on every single export job. The whole thing came up because… the photos were taking up too much storage on a server even though a summer went through without a single fraudulent claim.
Then at some point a client shared a DOD inventory with over 400 photos that didn’t look like an interior design poster. Curious about the need for this photo gallery, I asked for the insight and got a very uncensored one:
“Look, military families move every 2 years, their furniture is highly distressed regardless of its quality and the chances of an insurance claims from a stressed family are high, like really high”.
That’s why we have made sure to allow for a quick entry of multiple pre-existing damages along with their locations and multiple photos at once. That’s something our users discover and get used to quickly - all messaging and social media apps are great at that.
