A path to follow after the liftoff isn’t always trivial. As a rule, a piano is carried manually when there’s no suitable elevator available, and one has to move it up and down the stairs.
In this article, we’ll focus on the functions of our moving software that help plan and execute successful piano moves.
1. First and foremost — the survey (Voxme Virtual Survey).
During the video survey, one should instruct the client to show the musical instrument from all sides and pay attention to the path the piano will follow during the move. Experienced professionals are diligent about asking the client about the destination where the instrument will be unloaded.
Many users appreciate the video survey due to the “agreeing to the recording” effect. The point here is that most clients easily agree to have the survey video chat recorded, whereas the very attempt to record a phone conversation is typically met with resistance.
2. A physical survey using Voxme Estimator.
This is the most thorough and professional way of planning a move. A surveyor captures all the details, from parking options to the lift type and the number of stairs. They also assess the possibility of using a hoister for removing an object through a window or even a crane when the situation calls for it.
The app allows taking photos and annotating pre-existing damages to prevent any insurance claims. It also enables entering dimensions for crates to be built for piano transportation.
All these details are reflected in the resulting survey report, which is highly appreciated by our long-standing users — it’s a culmination of 20 years of daily use by the best industry professionals around the world.
This app allows capturing pre-existing damage details during the packing process and indicating the box number of the parts if disassembly became necessary (e.g., if the lid and pedals had to be removed).
For international piano moves that require customs documentation and security clearance, it’s important to have the option to record the manufacturer, model, and serial number of the musical instrument and its accompanying equipment (speakers, microphones, amplifiers).
4. The Bingo app.
The ability to print job-specific barcoded labels in the necessary quantities is crucial for a successful move, as is the use of the Bingo app for inventory completion scanning-based checkoff.
A growing number of companies specializing in piano moves, concert equipment, fine arts objects, and interior design furniture and fixtures are integrating Voxme products into their daily workflow. We hope to see your company join them, as well as your (however modest) completed payment in the bank statement.
